The Figeon
By: Melissa Rowe
What happens when a city-loving pigeon discovers the beauty of country life?
Phil the pigeon loves the buzz of the city—the busy streets, bustling buses, neighborhood bakery, and familiar city fountain. Fern the finch loves something completely different: peaceful fields, flowing streams, farm animals, star-filled skies, and the quiet beauty of the countryside.
When a strong summer wind carries Phil far from home, he meets Fern, and an unexpected friendship begins. Fern shows Phil everything she loves about country life. Then Phil invites Fern to discover the excitement of his city home.
Along the way, the two birds learn that different places, different experiences, and different friends can all be special.
The Figeon is a colorful illustrated children’s picture book about friendship, curiosity, acceptance, exploring new places, and appreciating differences. With playful characters, vibrant city-and-country scenes, and a memorable little mix-up, it is an engaging read-aloud story for young children, families, and classrooms.
